3rd HJ Sports Festival - Moscow
By Elena Kalmatskaya, Eastern Europe 2nd Generation Department Director
On June 2nd, 2019, the Russian 2nd Generation Department together with FFWPU Russia conducted the 3rd HJ Sports Festival in Moscow, Russia. 189 participants (108 children and 81 adults) from Moscow, N. Novgorod, Ryazan, Saratov, Ulyanovsk, and Tula joined the Festival. It was led by the Russian FFWPU Chairman, Yuriy Gavrilin, the Leader of the Eastern Europe 2nd Generation Department, Mrs. Elena Kalmatskaya, and one local city leader, Mr. Evgeny Mirzyanov.
The festival commenced with a speech by Yuriy Gavrilin who shared about the role of sports in human health and building a world of peace followed by a karate performance by a 2nd gen youth. Afterwards we divided all the participants into four large groups and had them compete in fun family games. This helped everyone feel part of one big family.
One of the goals of the festival was to recognize the 2nd generation youth who have been involved in a sport for more than three years. Together with their parents and all the guests, we proudly celebrated the success of eleven 2nd gen who work hard 365 days a year, promoting a healthy life-style. They were awarded with diplomas and gifts.
The program of the festival included 9 sports competition, such as a 100 m and 3 km run, basketball, volleyball, football, chess, table tennis, weight-lifting, badminton, and lotto for senior members. For the very little athletes we prepared a special obstacle course with their parents so they could enjoy this family day with everyone.
Among 189 participants, 47 winners received medals and diplomas during the closing ceremony. It was very inspiring to see blessed families naturally welcoming and caring for 2nd gen, young members, new guests, and pre-married couples who received the Blessing earlier in past ceremonies. Some of them also got medals for contributing to building a good long-lasting relationship centered on the ideals True Parents.
We would like to thank all the participants of the 3rd HJ Sports Festival and express our deep gratitude to all the leaders who supported us from the first day of the organization period until the end, as well as those brothers and sisters who were in charge of the competitions, the celebration feast, the technical aspects, etc.
Most of all, we would like to thank Heavenly Parents and True Parents for guiding us to be able successfully handle this festival. it has become an annual celebration of athletic achievements and we hope it will serve in raising proud 2nd generation that create a healthy family culture centered on Heavenly Parents and True Parents.
